Driver Ejected In New Windsor Crash

A 23-year-old man was injured during a one-vehicle crash in New Windsor, according to New Windsor Police.

The crash took place around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday on Jackson Avenue when Zachary Carey, of New Windsor, was ejected from his 2004 Subaru Impressa after failing to negotiate the roadway, said New Windsor Police Lt. Michael Farbent.

After being ejected, the vehicle struck a tree and caught fire, Farbent said.

Units from the New Windsor Police Department, Vails Gate Fire Department and the New Windsor Ambulance Corps responded to the scene.

Carey was flown out to Westchester Medical Center.

No information was available on the driver's condition.
